I'm a software engineer with a strong interest in hardware, emerging technology and small business. I'm not a vendor and I won't pretend a spec sheet tells you how a box behaves in a room. What I bring is a hands-on, technical read of the machinery.
Background
I've spent years writing about technology, much of it in the internet of things and small-form-factor computing, and I've always been more interested in how hardware works in the real world than how it looks on a spec sheet. That's the lens I bring here: I read each device against the job it is bought to do — a quiet 4K Plex server, a home-lab node, a Downloads box or a light desktop — and I check every spec and price against the vendor's own page. I started Little Compute because most small-computer advice is either a raw spec sheet or a paid-for list, and it is genuinely hard to tell which box is worth it.
What I do here
- Keep one structured dataset of mini PCs and single-board computers, compared field for field.
- Check every spec and price against the vendor's own current page, and date it when I do.
- Write the comparisons in plain English and name the boxes I would not recommend, too.
The rubric I use is written out in full on the How We Score page.
How this site is funded
Little Compute is reader-funded through affiliate commissions, disclosed on every page. A commission never changes a ranking or a score. If a box is weak, the write-up says so. There are no paid placements. Read the full how we make money note.
Corrections
Specs, prices and product line-ups change; if something here is out of date or wrong, emailhello@littlecompute.com and it gets fixed.
